Brief History of DelcolDelcol United Marketing (M) Sdn Bhd or just simply Delcol has its history dated back to 1988 when two young entrepreneurs, Mr. Liew Kian Seng and his wife Miss Tan Mui Kiang, who were then in their 20's, ventured into the business of marketing water filters. Initially, they set up a small proprietary business under the name of United Marketing. Over the last 13 years, business grew at a phenomenal rate and from a small business outfit, it has transformed into a large corporate entity with a retail chain of 16 outlets throughout the Kiang Valley, Johore Bahru and Kota Kinabalu and Melaka. Today, Delcol has received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest retailer of water filtration systems in the country. Statutory InformationDelcol was incorporated on 22nd September 1995. It has an authorized share capital of RM5, 000, 000 made up of 5, 000, 000 ordinary shares of RM1. Oo each. The issued and fully paid up share capital as at 30*June 2001 is RM1, 616, 800. The principal activity of the Company is that of marketing and servicing of water filtration and dispenser systems. The company intends to commence manufacturing soon through a related company to produce some components locally instead of importing them from abroad. Company's PremisesDelcol's main office is located at No. 20, Jalan Kencana 20, Taman Kencana, Cheras, 56100, Kuala Lumpur amidst a densely populated area flanking Cheras and Ampang. It also enjoys a strategic position due to its proximity to the commercial township of the Pandan Triangle. The company has recently acquired new premises next to the main office to cater for business expansion. Most of the Company's sales outlets are located in shopping complexes and supermarkets within the Klang Valley and Johor. Recently, the company opened four more sales outlets, one each in Kota Kinabalu, Skudai, Johor Bahru and Melaka. Eventually, the company will make inroads into other states to tap the potential market for its products in the not too distant future. Company's ProductsThe Malaysian public is probably familiar with our trade mark "Delcol" which is synonymous with water filtration products. Most of our products are assembled locally at our production section. We import some of the major components form overseas particularly from Korea, Taiwan and China as these are not available locally. The remaining parts are purchased from local suppliers or fabricated by local subcontractors. Our company has a skilled workforce to assemble the components in its production section. The following is a list of the products that are marketed by our company: -1. Water Dispenser and Filtration Systems. 2. Water Purification and Reverse Osmosis Systems. 3. Water Filters. 4. Mineral Pots. 5. Hot and Cold Water Dispensers. 6. Water Heaters. 7. Air Purifiers. 8. Water Distiller Machines. 9. Reverse Osmosis (R. O. ) Water. 10. Commercial Juice Dispensers and Boilers11. Replacement parts for the aboveThe above list is not exhaustive as the company may include new products to complement existing ones when the opportunity arises. We may also seek dealership with other established manufacturers in time to come.
